BEGINNERS GUIDE TO BDSM: SUBMISSIVES

So you read my original post on BDSM and you found yourself to be a Submissive. Think you know what a true Submissive is? Think you’ve got everything a Submissive must have? Well read on and see….

 Listen
Within BDSM a lot can be misconstrued, misinterpreted, and ultimately misunderstood. Both Dominant and Submissive need to be able to navigate the hard topics and listen well enough to understand desires, wants, and boundaries.
Desire
Any good Submissive knows that a strong desire to submit to their Dominant and forgo control is the basis of their role. They have a full understanding that being Submissive requires completely submitting and must have the strongest desire to do so. In doing so, they understand that the relationship will be beneficial to all parties involved.
Emotionally Stable
To get involved in a relationship of this sort, where boundaries are pushed and trust is a must, each party must be emotionally able to handle it. Although it is important for both parties, the Submissive’s emotional health is of the utmost importance. Dealing with constant criticism, someone else dominating you, and consistent honesty, requires someone with the healthiest of minds.
Communicator
Just because you are submissive does not mean you do not have a voice. Any practicing party involved in BSDM must be able to communicate thoroughly, especially a Submissive.  They must be able to speak up when necessary and express wants, needs, likes, and dislikes. Should they find themselves in an undesirable position they must speak up in order to correct it.

Positive Attitude

In my opinion, this is number one. A positive, adaptable attitude will not only make BDSM more pleasurable but help in all aspects of your life. Being positive will help you to be open minded in all new experiences and give you the ability to withstand any punishment your Dominant may have in store.
Let me know what you think…are you a true Submissive? Did this match you to a tee? Or are you a Dominant or Switch personality? To find out more on being a Dominant read my blog post here. Take the BDSM personality quiz to help figure just exactly where you fit in, here.
