Beginner’s Guide To BDSM: Dominant

If you read my Beginner’s Guide To BDSM: Who Are You? and found you were a Dominant, this is for you. Submissive and Switch personalities, I did not forget about you but this isn’t for you. So you picked Mostly A’s and definitely met the description, well since there is so much more to just being a Dominant, let’s delve a bit deeper 😉

In my experience, a good Dominant or Dominatrix is many things. Although, a great Dominant is truly in the eyes of the beholder, here are a few basic tips and characteristics to being the best one in the eyes of your Submissive.
1. Communication
They are excellent at communicating and even better at listening and understanding the needs of their Sub or Switch.
2. Compassionate
A great Dominant is not complete without being someone who is actually very kind, considerate, and understanding. Someone who is strong enough to push boundaries, yet compassionate enough to respect and not overstep others.
3. Knowledgeable
Dominants need to know their subjects like the back of their hand. They have to have a good understanding of their needs as well as a firm grasp on their desires.
 4. Interesting
Often times sex can get boring which leads to people exploring other avenues. More often than not, that is how BDSM is discovered. It serves as a gateway into the unusual and an escape from the mundane. In order to keep the interest, a Dominant must always be entertaining, willing to change things up, and open to exploring. This helps to rule out boredom and keep your Submissive or Switch coming back for more.

 5. Open

All Dominants should be open. Open in the sense that they are understanding of the fact that Domination and Submission know no gender roles or bounds. The idea that dominants don’t perform or should not be willing to be punished is silly. A good Dominant can take it up the ass, eat pussy and still maintain all control.
6. Honorable
Last but not least, Dominants should be honorable. They should set the tone and always honor the rules, safe words, and boundaries decided upon between their subject and themselves. The basis of BDSM revolves around consent and honoring the rules in order to keep everyone happy. Without this, you basically are just an asshole in leather with a whip. 🙂
