Beginners Guide To BDSM: Who are you?
With the introduction of erotic novels and film, BDSM, or bondage & discipline, domination & submission, sadism & masochism; has been brought to the forefront. Other than being an abbreviated set of four letters that show how explains numerous acts, BDSM is defined in the dictionary as: a variety of erotic practices involving dominance and submission, role playing, restraint, and other interpersonal dynamics.
With all that said, I now enter myself, a lifelong lover of BDSM and as my clients know, a switch personality. I often hear clients express their desire to incorporate BDSM into their lives but don’t know where to begin. Personally, I feel it is important to establish what side you prefer to experience prior to making any large commitments, yet a lot of people don’t know where they fit in, until now.
Within BDSM there are three personality types that an individual can fall into, they include dominant or dom, submissive or sub, and switch. A dominant is defined as: the ‘top’ or ‘man’ simply the individual who maintains the sexual control. Next up a submissive, a submissive is defined as: the ‘bottom’ or ‘woman’ simply meaning the individual who is under the sexual control of a dominant.Lastly, the switch. A switch is defined as: an in between if you will. This simply depicts an individual who enjoys being both a dominant and a submissive and ‘switches’ back and forth. Now that we have a grasp on personalities, where do you fall?
